In the last month, President Trump has extended temporary protected status (TPS) for foreign nationals from South Sudan, Sudan, El Salvador, Haiti, and Nicaragua.
Today, a new country joined this list. Today, Trump extended TPS for US residents from Liberia.
In a memo to the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Trump wrote, “[u]pon further reflection and review, I have decided that it is in the foreign policy interest of the United States to extend the wind-down period for an additional 12 months, through March 30, 2020.”
Trump had decided to end TPS for Liberians last year. TPS for Liberians was set to expire on Sunday.
